Sagara received his MD in Mali in 1997, MSPH at Tulane University, USA in 2002 and PhD from Aix-Marseille University, France in 2014. He is a Researcher and Associate Professor of Public Health at USTTB and Deputy Head of Epidemiology, Biostatistics & Data Management Unit at MRTC, USTTB, Mali. 

Sagara is currently the Clinical Trial Workpackage leader of the WANECAM 2/EDCTP 2 and Coordinator of the PfTBV/EDCTP 2 consortium.

Sagara has been the Principal Investigator for numerous Malaria vaccine and Drug trials at Malaria Research and Training Center (MRTC), Bamako, Mali

Sagara is currently, the Principal Investigator at MRTC, Mali for the Malaria Transmission Blocking Vaccines and the whole Malaria Sporozoite Parasite Vaccine study (CVAC) in collaboration with Laboratory of Malaria Immunology and Vaccinology at NIAID, NIH, USA.
